The prayer below is a suggestion for a way to pray for your spouse. These prayers will change from time to time and are meant only as a guideline to assist you in covering many areas of need. Pray as the Lord leads.
Before you pray for your spouse, please prepare your heart. Preparation is the building block to powerful prayer.
"Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, Your Word instructs me to enter into Your gates with thanksgiving and into Your courts with praise. Because of that, I thank You and I praise you for being my Father. I understand this is the day that You have made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it. I praise You for giving me the desire to pray out Your will for my spouse.
Father, I come before your throne, Your holiness, Your glory and I come to you as a husband/wife and a warrior, asking for Spouse name to have a life in Christ. Lord, I stand on Your word that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. I ask that You melt spouse name heart like butter toward You and Your goodness, that he/she accepts Your grace and comes to the Christ - to know Him as Lord and Savior. Lord, I pray that he/she comes to the knowledge of who You are and who he/she can become through You. I thank You that when I pray for Spouse name You move on my behalf and the desire increases for more of You in his/her life.
Make spouse name a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful for Your use. He/she may have had no one in his/her young life to pray for them, to seek Your will over them, to war against the enemy over his/her soul. As a servant of Christ, I labor fervently for my husband/wife in prayer that he/she my stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. Lord, I pray that he/she does not look at the things behind, but that he/she forges ahead and presses toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Father, I thank You that Christ was made wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption. I thank You that this knowledge will come to Spouse name . Thank You that You will cause him/her to triumph in Christ and that You will make known the delight of Your knowledge by them everywhere they go.
You are the God who speaks those things which be not as though they were. I follow Your example, Father God, and speak those things which may not yet be as though they were. I ask these things for my spouse in the holy Name of Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Thank you that it is so. In Jesus' name, Amen.
